Program details
For people managers and team leads in Japan who lead or work in English-speaking, multinational teams.
What managers will be able to do
- Prepare a difficult conversation in under 10 minutes
- Give feedback that names specific behavior and impact
- Decline or redirect requests clearly, and offer workable alternatives
- Handle disagreement by separating positions from interests
- End accountability conversations with a specific, owned next step
- Adapt to the individual and context, without assumptions about nationality or culture
English level
Participants should already work comfortably in English. We assess conversation skills, not English. Plain, direct English is encouraged and polish is not scored.
Modules
Preparing for High-Stakes Conversations
Get ready for the conversation you'd rather avoid, and open it well.
Feedback That Improves Performance
Positive and corrective feedback that is specific, fair and heard.
Clear Commitments: Declining, Boundaries and Alternatives
Say no respectfully, hold boundaries and negotiate what can be done, including with your own manager or HQ.
Navigating Disagreement and Conflict
Work through disagreement without damaging the relationship.
Accountability Conversations That Stick
Address missed commitments and agree next steps someone actually owns.
How it works

Goals, typical situations, policies to respect, cohort profile.
Proposal & quote
Format, dates and a written quote.
Preparation
Scenarios adapted to you; 1:1 baseline checks.
Four sessions
3 hours each, in person, mostly practice.
Results & debrief
Final checks, anonymized group summary and a 45-min debrief.
What it is and isn't
This is skills practice. It is not counselling, legal advice or an HR investigation. If a sensitive issue comes up, we pause and point to your agreed internal channels.
The before/after check shows practice progress in a simulated setting. It does not prove workplace performance change, and we don't claim it does.
Let's talk about your managers
Tell us what your managers are facing. We'll suggest a format and send a quote.
